History
Our club was founded on September 17th 1964 by local police and parent volunteers and was named the Berri District youth Club. We first operated out of the Rivoli Theatre (Berri Town Hall) teaching boxing, deportment and gymnastics for boys and girls. The club grew and soon built our own facility at Wilkinson St Berri. A grant enabled a builder to be employed and local businesses and community members donated funds, building materials and labour. Opening day was March 23rd 1968.
The club taught many activites over the years but gymnastics proved the most popular and soon became the sole activity undertaken at BDYC.
In 2018 the club moved to a brand new purpose-built facility at Glassey Park as part of the Riverland Regional Innovation and Sports Precinct. This facility was funded by a $3.5 million grant received by the Berri Barmera Council as part of the National Stronger Regions Fund. Opening day was Saturday February 17th 2018.
On the 11th of February 2019, Berri District Youth Club officially changed its business name to Riverland Gymnastics Academy, representative of its membership basis coming from all over the Riverland region.
